Dell XPS 13 (2019) unboxing and first impressions

Announced at CES this year, Dell"s new XPS 13 finally puts the webcam where it belongs, above the display. Moreover, the company shrunk down the camera sensor, so it didn"t have to compromise on the immersive experience that"s provided by narrow bezels.

The new XPS 13 has the internal upgrades that you"d expect, with Intel"s Whiskey Lake processors. The model that was sent to me includes a Core i7-8565U, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

The color is Frost with an Arctic White woven glass fiber palm rest, and it"s absolutely beautiful. To be honest, I"ve never cared for Dell"s XPS design before, which is a typical grayish silver aluminum body with a smooth carbon fiber palm rest. That model is still available, but the Frost and Rose Gold options are just sexy machines.

The really big deal though, is that the webcam is above the display. Like many portable PCs, the XPS lineup always had that one big compromise, and now it"s fixed. Check out our unboxing video below:
