Demon"s Souls fans are finally getting the remake they"ve been asking for, with Sony today confirming that the original Souls-like title that started everything is being remade for its upcoming PlayStation 5 console. Check out the announcement trailer showcasing the kingdom of Boletaria"s new visuals as well as several nasty looking demons, above.
The game is being developed by Bluepoint Games and SIE JAPAN, two studios that are very familiar with Sony titles. Both companies worked together on the Shadow of the Colossus remaster in 2018. It doesn"t appear as though the game"s original developer, FromSoftware, is involved with the project.
The original title from 2009 has been rebuilt completely and enhanced with a new “Fractured Mode", according to Sony, though the company didn"t go into detail on what exactly is this feature. The remake will bump up the graphics using ray tracing, though some of the eye candy can be turned off for those looking for a smoother experience.
The upcoming remake on PlayStation 5 will feature a graphics mode switch that will let players either experience the game focused on high fidelity or sacrifice visuals for higher frame rates. It"s unclear just how much of a performance boost will the switch provide, and if the game will be stuck to 30FPS otherwise.
The Demon"s Souls remake doesn"t even have a release window attached to it yet, with Sony only saying that it will arrive to PlayStation 5.
