If you are resident in one of the European countries listed here with a Lumia 925 or 1020 then you will be happy to know that you can probably update your phone to Denim today.
WinBeta reported a few hours ago that the European market started opening up for these older devices, and a quick look through the list shows Italy, Germany and Croatia, among others, either getting the Country Variant (SIM-free) update or mainly through Vodafone (The Netherlands) for one or both handsets.
Key enhancements brought along by the Lumia Denim update:
- Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1
- Multiple camera-related updates
- Live folders
- Cortana
- Apps corner
- SMS merge and forwarding
- Snooze Times
- Consumer VPN
- Mobile Web Site improvements in IE
To get Denim on your Lumia, simply go to Apps List > Settings > Phone Update > Check for updates on your handset, and follow the instructions from there.
Yesterday, Microsoft also updated its Lumia Software Recovery Tool with a Denim build for supported devices, so if anything goes wrong with your installation you should be able to resolve the problem relatively easily.
The roll out of the Lumia Denim update has been a painfully slow one for most, considering Microsoft originally intended for it to be completed "by Christmas." For those of you still waiting for it to appear on your Lumia in other parts of the world, you can check availability for your device here.
Update: O2 users in the UK can also expect to upgrade today after it started rolling out last night.
