It"s looking more and more likely that American consumer electronics company Sonos will be bringing out a brand new soundbar device as early as next month.
In a post from ZatzNotFunny, it is noted that the device, which was first seen at USPTO back in 2014, may be very close to release. Beyond that, images have surfaced of the new gadget via Jon Maddox on Twitter.
The slim box has optical and Ethernet ports on the back, and is said to work in a similar fashion to the current offering, the Sonos Playbar. The naming convention hints at its placement under the TV, in much the same way LG"s SoundPlate is meant to be placed.
ZatzNotFunny also reveals a now deleted B&H listing which underlines the availability of both black and white models, priced at $699. The expected launch date is March 3, 2017, featuring possible compatibility with voice commands from Amazon"s Alexa.
It will be interesting to see the official pricing, especially for folks in the UK, as Sonos has announced a 25% increase in prices in the country due to significant changes in the GBP to USD exchange rate. They are quoted as saying that prices prior to the increase had become "unsustainable".
Nevertheless, with the release of what"s listed in the FCC filing as the wireless smart speaker so close, more details are bound to surface soon. Until then, take a look at the Playbase via the gallery below.
