Earlier this month, Microsoft announced that it now has 51 Microsoft Store locations in the US and Canada, with plans to open six more locations this year. Four of those six "new" locations are in fact Microsoft Stores that were launched as temporary holiday stores in 2012 but will be upgraded to permanent locations; Microsoft"s first all new store will open in San Antonio, Texas in early March.
However, it looks like the company has even more plans to open the doors of at least two more retail stores. A quick check of the Microsoft Careers website shows that the company is looking to hire people for stores in both Detroit, Michigan and most notably in Honolulu, Hawaii.
A future Microsoft store in Hawaii means that the company would open only the second such store outside the 48 contiguous United States and Canada; San Juan, Puerto Rico is the only other location that has a Microsoft Store that"s outside these regions.
The Microsoft Careers website has no information on when these two new stores will be opened, nor any word on their specific address. We are still waiting to hear if the company will open up a location in the UK, as they are rumored to be planning for a 2013 launch.
