DFT releases WP7 Mango RTM for all HTC devices

Late last week, the Dark Forces Team released their set of ROMs for Windows Phones full of Mango goodness, just days ahead of the rumored release of Mango at BUILD.

According to the post, right now the team only support HTC devices, and the RTM bits are available for the Trophy, HD3, Surround and HD7. The team has also added and removed features, making it one of the first more customized ROMs for the Windows Phone platform.

The ROM does not include operator specific apps, but does have the official HTC applications on the device (including hidden Wi-Fi!). It"s also worth noting that the ROM is not based on the ISV build available from Microsoft that doesn"t include OEM drivers, but instead is based on the recently leaked official images, meaning they"re almost as good as the real deal.

As with all these types of releases, if you just can"t wait any longer and are the type of person who doesn"t mind if their phone is spontaneously transformed into a paperweight, then head to the XDA-Developers thread here and follow the steps.

The change log from the team says that the changes include;

Replace 2nd boot screen splash to new DFT splash
Replace locked screen wallpaper to DFT wallpaper
Enable instant resuming
Enable all langs Camera setting Enable Wifi 11n
Ebable MMSGroupText
Nodo fix 16 bit colour banding

Mango is the major update to Microsoft"s Windows Phone 7 platform, which brings many new features such as multitasking, IE9 support, deep social networking, integrated chat and more. The RTM software is expected to be available to retail devices in the next few weeks and new Mango hardware is releasing around the world slowly, with Fujistu releasing the first handset a few weeks ago.
