Diablo III fans have been waiting, and waiting, for Blizzard to finally offer up a PvP mode for the action-RPG game. In December, Blizzard announced that there would be no Team Deathmatch mode for the game, but development of the dueling mode has continued.
Earlier this month, Blizzard released a new patch on its test server that finally adds the dueling mode to Diablo III, which allows two to four players to battle it out online. However, this week Blizzard said that in viewing the results of the test build, they have decided to rename dueling to brawling.
Why? Blizzard states:
Sure, it allows players to pummel, stomp, immolate, and hex fellow Nephalem (over and over again, if they so choose), but it"s not a traditional one-on-one duel. It’s something much more wild and open-ended, where you can engage in 3-person and even 4-person free-for-all skirmishes with few restrictions. The system is all about letting players fight for the sake of fighting—you don’t need to worry about objectives, rewards, or scoring, and that’s exactly what we love about it. But again, that’s not really dueling; it’s brawling!
There"s no word on when the "brawling" PvP patch will be released to the public.
