As the days tick by until Diablo III"s release on May 15th, the game"s developer Blizzard has announced that players of the upcoming PC action-RPG will be able to play online with other players outside their home region. The new Global Play feature will be available for the game"s launch.
Blizzard has split Diablo III"s player base into three regions; the Americas (US, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia), Europe (European Union, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, and Middle Eastern countries such as Israel and the United Arab Emirates) and Asia (South Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau).
If a Diablo III gamer from one region wants to go online to play in one of the two other regions, he or she can do so. However, that player will also have to create a new character and friend list on Battle.net when they switch regions; they won"t be able to transfer their character from their home region. More information on how Global Play will work in Diablo III can be read on Blizzard"s FAQ page.
Blizzard has also released an updated FAQ on Diablo III"s Auction House, which will allow players to buy or sell in-game items for real world cash or the game"s own currency. Finally, the company has released the fifth and final character class gameplay video for Diablo III, the wizard.
