DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket coming to Android and PS3

Fans of NFL football breathed a sign of relief when the players and the team owners decided to end a lockout. That means that fans will be able to watch a full season of games on their big screen TV. As always, the DirecTV satellite TV service has the exclusive access to nearly all of the NFL games via the NFL Sunday Ticket, even the ones that can"t normally be seen on the regular broadcast networks in your area. But what if you don"t want to get a big satellite dish in your backyard? Today, DirecTV has announced that it is offering the NFL Sunday Ticket for users of Sony"s Playstation 3 console.

More details about the new feature have been revealed at the official Playstation blog site. PS3 owners can pay $339.95 at the start of the NFL season in September to get access to DirecTV"s NFL Sunday Ticket. Yes, that"s a lot of money, but if your favorite team isn"t being shown a lot on your local broadcast network, this might be a good alternative. If you already have DirecTV, you can pay an additional $50 to use the PS3 console as an additional satellite receiver.

If you are a Motorola Xoom or Samsung Galaxy Tab user, you can also download an NFL Sunday Ticket Android app that will allow DirecTV subscribers to watch games on those tablets. It will also be made available for Motorola"s Android-based smartphones. DirecTV has already released an NFL Sunday Ticket app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad along with an app for the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi phones.
