Discord 9.9.3 adds temporary muting, slash commands, and mark as unread functionality

Discord, which started out as a chat service for gamers, now has over 100 million users worldwide which use the service to connect with fellow gamers through messaging, video, and voice calls. Discord added a hidden AMOLED dark theme on its Android app earlier this month. In a new update, the Discord app on Android (v9.9.3) is now adding more features which include temporary muting, slash commands and marking individual messages as unread. The changelog for the update is shown below:

Now Discord allows users to temporarily mute a fellow gamer which can particularly come in handy when they are in the middle of a game and do not want to be annoyed by their chatty friend. Additionally, the Android app is adding support for slash commands which are commonly used to interact with bots. Some of the commonly used slash commands include /giphy and /tenor to find animated GIFs, /tts to read the message to everyone in the channel using text to speech and /shrug to put "¯\_(ツ)_/¯" in the channel.

The third feature permits users to mark individual messages as unread which may be useful when they want to revisit certain conversations at a more convenient time. The update (v9.9.3) is currently rolling out to users through the Google Play Store.
