Discord has announced that it’s rolling out its new noise suppression feature powered by Krisp.ai as a beta to users on desktop. The new setting can be toggled on or off and removes background noise so you can be heard more clearly. The new feature joins echo cancellation, noise reduction, and automatic gain control to make your calls even clearer.
According to the announcement by Discord, Krisp runs locally on the device to cancel out background noise. This ensures that no voice, user, video, or any other type of data is shared outside of Discord. The functionality is described as being in early beta so you may still hear some background noise even after you enable it.
To turn on the feature, look for the noise suppression button in any voice or video chat. Alternatively, go to App Settings > Voice and Video > Advanced > Noise Suppression. If you’d like to read more about the new feature, be sure to check out the Krisp Beta FAQ page which explains how the feature works and answers common questions.
Noise suppression beta should become available to all of Discord"s desktop users soon. The firm is working on mobile support too but that’s not ready to ship yet.
