One week ago, Microsoft began rolling out the Anniversary Update to millions of PCs around the world. Despite its earlier assurances that it would release the update for phones at the same time, the company instead said that the Windows 10 Mobile version would be made available "in the coming weeks", although it appears that the wait may not be quite as long as feared.
Microsoft also released the Anniversary Update for its HoloLens headset, and for the Xbox One, but the overwhelming majority of those upgrading will be on PCs. If you haven"t yet upgraded, you can find out more about the many new features and improvements that it brings in our Windows 10 Anniversary Update review for PCs.
But if you have installed the update, we"re eager to hear what you think of it so far.
For most users, it seems the upgrade went well, if not flawlessly. But not everyone had a smooth ride - hundreds of comments in a thread on Reddit indicated that some were experiencing problems with their PCs freezing after installing the Anniversary Update.
There have been sporadic reports of other more unusual issues too. On my own PC, for example, the upgrade wiped out about 90% of the installed fonts, leaving a seemingly random selection of pre-installed and non-default fonts installed - and I"ve heard from a couple of other people who have had a similar problem. Some users have experienced other font issues in specific Windows 10 apps.
We mustn"t overstate the extent of these issues, though - while some users clearly experienced problems, many others will have had no trouble at all.
We"d love to hear about your experiences with the Anniversary Update.
Did you have to deal with any issues during or after installation? Have you managed to fix them, or are you perhaps considering re-installing, or even rolling back to an earlier Windows install? (Don"t forget, you"ve only got ten days to do so after upgrading, as Microsoft reduced its earlier 30-day rollback period.) Or has your experience of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update been completely flawless so far?
And, all issues aside, what do you think of the new features in the update? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
