Larian Studios-developed RPG Divinity: Original Sin II released for PC last year to massive success on both critical and commercial fronts, with many considering it to be one of the best role-playing games to ever come out. Soon, console players will also be able to join in on the grand adventure, as the developer has partnered up with Bandai Namco to bring the game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year.
For those unfamiliar with the game, here is a short description of it and some information on the unique main characters you can choose to be in the game, who also appear as optional companions in the storyline:
Divinity: Original Sin 2 gives players the freedom of a sandbox RPG encouraging improvisation and experimentation with rules made to be bent rather than followed. The game takes place in the world of Rivellon where players can go anywhere, talk to anyone (living, dead, or non-human) and fully interact with the game world like no other RPG. The game features six unique origin characters with full-fledged backstories, personalities and questlines:
- Red Prince - A haughty but heroic lizard noble
- Sebille - An elven assassin
- Lohse - An possessed musician
- Ifan ben-Mezd - A mercenary ex-soldier
- Beast - A rebel-turned-pirate dwarf
- Fane - An undead member of the long-forgotten Eternal race
Arriving with a specially designed user interface, the console version will offer four-player online co-op as well as two-player split-screen co-op, just as the PC version does. Extra features that are slated to arrive with the console version will be announced at a later date.
Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players can begin their Voidwoken slaying exploits sometime in August this year. There"s no word if the game will have any additional enhancements on the Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4 Pro just yet.
