DJI's new gimbal slips into your pocket and can shoot 4K at 60fps

Gimbals have become quite popular over the years, becoming a tool that is synonymous with buttery-smooth video footage. While DJI"s focus as of late has been with its drones, today, the firm announced a new addition to its gimbal lineup with the Osmo Pocket.

The Osmo Pocket isn"t like any other gimbal that has come prior and offers quite a lot of power in a very minuscule package. The device measures in at 121.9×36.9×28.6 mm and only weighs 116 grams. It makes use of a 1/2.3” CMOS sensor that can shoot 4K footage at 24p, 25p, 30p, 48p, 50p, and 60p, with a maximum bitrate of 100 Mbps. The gimbal has an operating time of two hours and 20 minutes and can charge from zero to full in just 73 minutes.

The gimbal offers a small screen so you can see what is being captured. The screen also doubles as an interface to change different settings on the device. Despite it being small, it packs quite a bit when it comes to its software, including DJI"s Active Track system will allow users to choose a subject and have the gimbal automatically track it. For those that want a bit more from the images and videos they are shooting, the Osmo Pocket can shoot in RAW and also "D-Cinelike" which looks to be a flat picture profile that can be used to color grade.

DJI will also offer a variety of different accessories for the unit, like its Controller Wheel, that has physical buttons for quick access to settings and a scroll wheel. If interested, you can purchase the product from DJI"s website for $349.
