Intel has already commenced launching its 12th Gen Alder Lake-S desktop CPU lineup with the introduction of its unlocked Core i9-12900K, and more SKUs. The accompanying LGA1700-based top-end Z690 motherboards, both DDR4 and DDR5 variants, are also out.
However, if you are one of those that are looking to upgrade your desktop processor but have no intention of overclocking, there"s some good news for you today. That"s because Intel"s locked Alder Lake-S SKUs have leaked out today in the form of images of the physical CPUs themselves as well as their specs. So you won"t need an expensive Z690 motherboard or exotic cooling to get the best out of those.
The leak comes courtesy of Zhihu user DDAA117 who has posted this on their Zhihu account and images of four Alder Lake-S locked (non-K) CPUs have been released. They are:
- i9-12900
- i5-12600
- i5-12500
- i5-12400

But these four aren"t the only locked Alder Lake-S variants that Intel is preparing. There is also a Core i7-12700 processor and it has been leaked from a Bangladeshi store listing. The name of the store is Nexus and the i5-12400 has also been spotted here.

Interestingly, unlike a lot of early store listings, there doesn"t seem to be any placeholder price given here.
