After numerous delays, Grand Theft Auto V finally made its debut on PC last month. Although PC owners won"t be playing a completely unique iteration of the title, there are a few advantages when it comes to running games on PC"s versus consoles. Mods have become an integral part of the PC gaming experience and GTAV is no different. Unfortunately, it looks like some of the more popular mods are compromising users with malware / viruses.
As reported by gaming site Kotaku, some of the more popular mods such as "Angry Planes" and "Noclip" have been identified as culprits causing malware or virus infections. If you have installed either of these mods, it is recommended to head over to the GTAForums for a detailed walkthrough of how to track and remove the offending files. As always, if you suspect your computer has been compromised, change any and all passwords immediately and keep a watchful eye on any suspicious activity.
While there are certainly a number of popular mods for GTA V, the above incident is a stern reminder to be cautious when downloading any unofficial third party software.
