Following Twitter"s decision to start experimenting with the character limit per tweet, the online world seems to have erupted into chaos over how long is too long for a tweet. For those who believe their creative expression is being stifled by the rather short 140 character limit, there already exist workarounds to manually upgrade the maximum tweet length. Now, there"s also a solution for the other camp who would rather see things left as they have always been.
Block280 is a Chrome extension that allows users to shrink any tweets containing more than 140 characters back to original the limit with which users have become accustomed over the years. If you change your mind, however, you can simply click on the tweet in question to make visible the full text of the tweet.
Conor Browne, the aficionado behind the extension, seems to be a genius at hiding things that people don"t want to see on the internet, with previous add-ons including the puntastic "Pokemon NO!" and the "Game of Thrones blocker". Both are extensions designed to scrub the internet of any mention of the two pop culture franchises at the height of their popularity.
