Chinese electronics company DOOGEE came to fame a couple of years ago thanks to the success of the Mix series. At present, the brand has transformed to focus more on the niche market of rugged smartphones. Today DOOGEE announced the latest entrant to its durable line of smartphones, the DOOGEE S86.
A common model for affordable phone brands is to pack as many features as possible in a low-priced handset, usually cutting back on display quality. Other trends of such devices tend to include large batteries and storage capacities coupled with mid-ranged SoCs.
The DOOGEE S86 appears to follow a similar framework with its gigantic 8,500mAh battery. Other specifications of the newly announced device include a 6.1-inch Gorilla Glass HD LCD display, the Helio P60 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage and 24W fast charging. It runs stock Android 10 out the box and has a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
Since it is a rugged phone, it has IP68 and IP69K certifications, meaning the device will be resistant to water, dust, sand, shocks and falls. As for the S86"s camera setup, pictures indicate a quad-camera situation on the rear. However, the only confirmed specifications are a 16MP AI main camera on the back and an 8MP selfie camera on the front.
The DOOGEE device is scheduled to launch on March 29 at 11:00 AM (GMT) via a live-streamed virtual event on YouTube. Pre-orders for the rugged phone are open and can be placed via AliExpress. According to the pre-order page, the S86 will be priced at $316.
