Valve announced the arrival of a co-op campaign to its MOBA title, DOTA 2 last month, and promptly missed the late May launch window. Now in June, the Siltbreaker co-op campaign"s first act, titled "The Sands of Fate" is available for all Battle Pass to tackle, arriving as the first ever campaign to the game.
In the announcement, Valve describes the first act as follows:
A day of reckoning has arrived. A long-dormant evil stirs in Dark Reef prison, and four chosen defenders must band together to undertake a secret mission to stop the fiendish Siltbreaker and his enthralled host of followers.
As Act I opens, Siltbreaker awakens in the depths of Dark Reef, and the mysterious Conclave of the Brine calls upon you to halt this dark power’s ascent, starting with Siltbreaker’s twisted creation—Rhyzik the Corruptor.
Act one is comprised of multiple "play zones" where players are rated on their performance level using a star-based system. Players that complete these play zones can net some Battle Points as well as treasures, depending on their performance.
These treasures have a chance of delivering what Valve describes as an "indescribably-rare Immortal Desert Sands Baby Roshan courier". Battle Pass owners who have a Battle Level of 165 or higher will be able to net twice the amount of treasures for each run, heightening their chances of getting some good loot.
Players who have already made efforts to complete the campaign say it"s quite a difficult task, and that hero composition as well as itemization is important, just as when playing a regular game of DOTA. For those interested, a Reddit thread with helpful tips and strategies is available here.
The International 2017 Battle Pass is available to purchase on the DOTA 2 store for $9.99, with additional levels also up for grabs.
