Slated for July 10th, mobile gamers will be able to get their hands on Dr. Mario World on iOS or Android, although platform availability may apparently be limited in smaller countries. While the title draws upon the conceptual gameplay from the original Dr. Mario that launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System almost 30 years ago, pills are instead dispensed from the bottom of the screen and float upwards - otherwise, you can drag and drop them around the screen as required.
In the meantime, Nintendo has published a "how-to-play" video if you want to find out more about gameplay as well as the other items you might encounter as you play through the various levels. The title will launch with five worlds initially, with others slated for release in the future. Players will also be able to acquire additional doctors with some familiar faces amongst the lineup, each with a unique skill at their disposal. There"s even a versus mode that might come in handy to settle disputes about whose virus-busting skills reign supreme.
With roughly three weeks to go before Dr. Mario World is released, it remains to be seen as to exactly how successful the title ends up being and if Nintendo has come up with the optimal formula for the franchise on mobile platforms.
