With Duke Nukem Forever just a month or so away from its release, the marketing machine for the long awaited first person shooter is heading into high gear. First OnLive announced today that the game from developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games will be made available on the streaming game service on the same day that the game is released in the US on June 14. In addition, OnLive is offering people who pre-order Duke Nukem Forever on the service a credit to receive a free OnLive Microconsole (a $99 value) or credit to get a free game on the OnLive service.
Meanwhile there"s talk on the Internet that the promised playable demo for Duke Nukem Forever is getting ready to be released soon. This week, people who were registered for the game"s First Access service got an email asking people for their preferred game platform (Xbox 360, PS3 or PC) to receive the demo. That choice must be given by May 15 which may indicate that the demo could be released sometime next week.
Finally, if you are going to be in Dallas, Texas area on June 11, just three days before Duke Nukem Forever"s release, you might want to register at Gearbox"s web site to attend Gearbox"s Community Day. To be held at the Palladium Ballroom, the event will feature playable versions of Duke Nukem Forever and Gearbox promises that it will offer "the first public unveiling of never-before-seen materials by Gearbox." Oh, and it"s free to attend.
