Ever since the surprise announcement and gameplay walkthrough at last year"s E3, those who were eagerly awaiting the sequel to 2015"s survival horror title Dying Light had one question: when"s it releasing? That question hasn"t quite been answered, though we do have at least a release time frame to work with thanks to the trailer shown off at Microsoft"s Xbox E3 Briefing.
The gameplay trailer above shows Aiden, the main character, "a new hero in a world torn apart by the ravages of the infection, where every decision counts and death lurks around each corner." The emphasis on decisions isn"t random, as Technland brought in famed game designer and writer Chris Avellone - most famous for his work on the Icewind Dale series, and a number of other games including Fallout: New Vegas - to work on the structure of the narrative.
All we know currently is that you are a character in "The City", whose job is to survive the hoards of infected roaming around. If the first game is anything to go by, these zombie-like creatures should be equally as terrifying as their predecessors in the first title.
An excerpt from the game"s description reads:
It’s been 15 years since humanity lost to the virus.
The last great human settlement exists within an unforgiving, infected world, plunged into a modern dark age. During the day, bandits, factions and starving survivors roam the streets scavenging for scraps - or someone to take them from, by violence if necessary. At night the infected roam free, evacuating their dark hideouts to prey on the living.
Dying Light 2 is out Spring 2020 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on Windows. And yes, it"s on Steam.
