Dynamics 365 gets new Teams integrations, Intelligent Order Management, and more

Last month at the NRF 2021, Microsoft announced a new Cloud for Retail service, among other updates for its Dynamics 365 platform. A couple weeks later, the tech giant made available the release wave plans for Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform for this year.

Today, kicking off the virtual Ignite 2021 event, Microsoft has unveiled a new application for Dynamics 365, more ways in which its enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform will be integrating with Microsoft Teams, and more.

For starters, the new service that will join the suite of business applications is "Intelligent Order Management". As indicated by the name, the application"s purpose is to provide customers a way to scale their order management processes using AI-powered software. The rule-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) app will allow business users to adjust and change order paths based on exceptions, and learn to come up with better recommendations based on that. Intelligent Order Management will be arriving in preview in April, focusing on complementing legacy ERP systems instead of replacing them.

Moving on, some new service integrations with Microsoft Teams have been revealed. Notably, in its release plans for this year, Microsoft only noted Business Central as the application receiving enhanced integration with Teams. Now, however, updates in this regard will span across Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Commerce, and Human Resources. Aside from the integration with Dynamics 365 Human Resources - which will be available later this year -, all the rest are available now.

Finally, Dynamics 365 Marketing is getting real-time personalized customer experience capabilities that will be arriving in public preview in April. Described as "customer-led journey orchestration" features, the updated customer experience will enable both digital and physical touchpoint to offer unique, personalized experiences through AI.
