Microsoft quickly announced that pre-orders had begun for its upcoming Xbox One game console after its E3 2013 press conference on Monday. The $499 price tag is a little steep but that has not stopped some people from already putting down their money for the device.
The Xbox Wire website reports that one online retailer, Amazon, has already seen a huge demand for the Xbox One. John Love, the director of US Video Games and Software at Amazon, stated:
We were thrilled by the unprecedented demand we saw for Xbox One today. In the first four hours of preorder availability, we sold through most of our Xbox One Day One Edition inventory. Customers eager to get an Xbox One should visit our store at Amazon.com/xboxone to ensure they keep up-to-date on the latest information. We are excited to be working with Microsoft to deliver the next generation of games and entertainment.
Neither Amazon nor Microsoft have given specific sales numbers for the Xbox One so far.
The Xbox One Day One package includes some exclusive packaging, as seen above, along with a limited edition controller that has the "Day One 2013" label in the middle, and a code to add a "Day One" achievement to your Xbox Live account.
