Following the cancellation of service for the neo-nazi website Daily Stormer, by its domain registrar, GoDaddy back in the middle of August after it published a deeply offensive article relating to Heather Heyer, the victim of the fatal car attack at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. The white supremacist website has since been denied registration by Google, and now you can add EasyDNS to that list.
According to a blog post on the EasyDNS website, CEO Mark Jeftovic said that DailyStormer founder Andrew Anglin asked if they would allow dailystormer to use their services, and Jeftovic replied: "In a word, no, thanks for asking." The blog post further explains the reasoning for denying registration on a service that touts itself as a home for free speech.
I would hypothetically take on a site like Breitbart.com or even TheRebel.media and tell anybody who tried to pressure us to take them down to go to hell. But as a man in an interracial marriage with a mixed-race child, being asked to risk our business and our customers, to put our asses on the line for a bunch of white supremacists? I don’t think so.
Jeftovic also explains in the post that he has booted white supremacist websites before, and that the decision ultimately comes down to business; you can read the full post here.
This latest refusal of service to the site adds to a list now consisting of GoDaddy, Google, Namecheap, Discord, and Cloudflare that we know of, so it looks like for now at least, the site will have to make do on the dark web where morals seem less important.
