Ebb Software's Giger-esque horror title Scorn, shown off at Inside Xbox

Today, kicking off the Xbox 20/20 series of events planned between now and the launch of Microsoft"s Xbox Series X this holiday, was a special episode of Inside Xbox. During it, Serbian developer Ebb Software showcased the latest trailer for its atmospheric first-person horror adventure title Scorn, a game inspired by the works of H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński.

Published by Humble Bundle, the upcoming game is "set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry". As you"d expect from something with the aforementioned source of inspiration, there is plenty of gore, violence, and other mature content. The game was Kickstarted and initially meant to be split into two parts, but later the decision was made to release the game as a whole.

Scorn does not have a release date currently, although the wording of the announcement on the Steam page makes it seem like this will be a Series X exclusive, at least on the console side:

The authenticity of the game and being able to develop it as we conceptualized it is the highest priority. Before deciding to partner with Microsoft we made sure that they will not have any influence over the game"s concept and development process. They were more than cooperative in that regard. The only thing they were interested in was exclusivity rights. Once all that was agreed upon it was a no brainer decision when you look at all the benefits Scorn will get from this partnership, from additional resources to much bigger exposure(marketing). It will certainly help us make Scorn a better, polished game in the end.

Furthermore, it is not coming to current-generation consoles. It has been announced for release on Series X and PC, with folks on the latter platform being able to grab it from either the Windows Store, Steam, GOG, or play it via Xbox Game Pass at launch. Noticeable by its absence is Humble Bundle, which is odd given that currently this is the game"s publisher. Only the Steam page seems to be up currently.
