EE has announced that it has partnered with Square to help small businesses securely accept contactless payments anywhere and at any time. Under the agreement, EE small business customers will be given a free Square reader with fee-free processing for the first £1,000 of transactions.
Using Square, small businesses will be able to safely accept payments from customers in person, online, and over the phone. The new offer will be good for businesses that are looking to reduce the number of cash transactions they have to make due to COVID-19 and the small chance the virus has of being transmitted with cash payments. A report from Square also found that fewer than one-in-four payments are now made with cash which is around half of the pre-COVID-19 levels.
Commenting on the new, Pankaj Bengani, Global Partnerships Lead at Square, said:
“Partnering with EE means we can help more SMEs accept card payments with ease and simplicity. It’s essential businesses are equipped to sell wherever their customers are, and with Square, EE customers will be able to do this in-person and online.”
With Square, small businesses can sign-up to the service and begin taking payments the same day. Aside from processing payments after the first £1,000, EE says that there are no hidden fees nor long-term commitments to catch businesses by surprise. It also said that payments go through to businesses on the next working day as standard which allows them to optimise their cash flow.
