British publisher Eidos has announced a new launch date for its PS2, Xbox and PC shooter ShellShock: Nam "67, with the title now due in Europe on September 3rd after being delayed past its original June date.
The title is the last multiplatform game to be created by European developer Guerrilla Games - who are now tied into an exclusive deal with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, the first fruits of which will be the highly anticipated PS2 FPS title Killzone.
ShellShock was originally due to be launched before the end of Eidos" 2004 financial year in June, but it was delayed at the eleventh hour, ostensibly in order to improve the final version of the game - which Eidos hopes to build into a franchise.
"ShellShock: Nam "67 is an important release for Eidos," according to European MD Jonathan Kemp, "especially as it is the first game of what will hopefully prove to be a very successful franchise. We are giving the game significant marketing support across all media, and in conjunction with the very positive press coverage already received, we are confident that ShellShock: Nam "67 will perform strongly at retail."
The game will arrive in European retail outlets on September 3rd, with a launch in North America scheduled for September 14th.
