Tesla"s expanding fleet of electronic vehicles is quickly becoming the sweetheart of environmentalists, techies and car buffs alike but one area the company has struggled with is the state of on-board navigation in its cars. All that is soon going to change, according to CEO Elon Musk.
After spotting a customer complaining about the sparse rate of updates to navigation maps, and how outdated they were, the company"s CEO himself chimed in, assuring the customer that not only will his concerns be addressed soon but that a whole new navigation system was in the works for release next year.
How about navigation chart updates, I have my tesla almost 3 years in Which I received 1 update of charts and even that was “old”. Netherlands roads are changing faster than ludicrous speed.

Major navigation overhaul coming in early 2018. Will be light-years ahead of current system, but we are testing it rigorously before rolling out.

An earlier tweet by Musk also promised other "cool software updates" were also in the works and "coming soon".
