Due to the coronavirus pandemic, holding in-person events has become impossible, as lockdowns have forced many of us to remain indoors to curb the spread of the virus. Tech firms are grappling with this reality and have canceled almost all their major events. Epic Games announced today that Fortnite World Cup 2020 has been canceled and it has moved all other Fortnite events online. The firm added that the online competition wasn"t feasible due to the "limitations of cross region online competition."

The firm said that it"s unsure when holding in-person events would be possible, wishing to put on some form of Fortnite World Cup in 2021. Meanwhile, it will be focusing on online events with FNCS, Cash Cups, and official broadcasts. For third-party events to receive support, they must be held online until further notice, the firm said.
The popular Battle Royale game last month extended the current season until early June. It also held a virtual concert in which Travis Scott previewed his latest song in an "Astronomical" experience.
