Epic Games Store's first major sale now underway, free game frequency also increased

It hasn"t taken long for Epic Games to join in on the tradition of storewide sales, as today it kicked off the Epic Mega Sale on its divisive PC games store. This is a month-long sale event, with it slated to close its doors on June 13.

In addition to the discounts, which go up to 75% off, Epic is reducing a further $10 from titles that are priced above $14.99 as a bonus. For example, Ashen"s discounted price is listed at $29.99, but with the "Epic Discount" that goes down to $19.99. This means that even games up for pre-order like Borderlands 3 have the $10 discount applied.

Moreover, those who purchased a game after May 2 but before the sale through the Epic Games Store will have the difference refunded to them automatically. Pre-orders that were made before the sale, on the other hand, will get the $10 (Epic Discount) refunded no matter how far back the purchase was made.

Alongside this, the popular giveaways that have been happening on the Epic Games Store every fortnight are being bumped up in frequency. Until the sale"s end, the giveaways will refresh with a new game every week, starting with Stories Untold later today.
