Evidence hint at TweetDeck becoming a premium Twitter Blue feature

TweetDeck, a web app for Twitter habitues, is a powerful alternative to traditional Twitter clients and its web interface. TweetDeck offers deep customization and a multi-column view for keeping an eye on several timelines, messages, mentions, etc. Now it seems that Twitter is considering a major TweetDeck overhaul and making TweetDeck a part of the recently launched Twitter Blue subscription.

Jane Manchun Wong, a security researcher, uncovered several unreleased work-in-progress sign-up pages highlighting the benefits of TweetDeck. They do not explicitly say that TweetDeck will be exclusive to Twitter Blue, but there are some solid clues. For example, the pages claim TweetDeck users can enjoy Twitter "without the noise." In other words, no ads, which is slightly puzzling considering Twitter Blue does not give you an ad-free Twitter experience in the official apps or the web interface.

Twitter is filling in the new @TweetDeck signup page that they’re working on. Two new highlights:

1. A link for “the legacy version of TweetDeck” (even though it might be deprecated at some point in the future)

2. “Ad-free experience” being marketed as the selling point :P https://t.co/XP6sYsTUGM pic.twitter.com/fRc0ujZ7o2

Twitter might also compensate for the $2.99/mo price tag to access TweetDeck by giving pro users additional features, such as rumored collaboration tools.

Another hint pointing at Twitter"s potential plans to hide TweetDeck behind a paywall is the code discovered in the Twitter apps. It prevents users without an active Twitter Blue subscription from accessing TweetDeck and redirects to the Twitter Blue sign-up page. Besides, the sign-up page mentions the legacy version of TweetDeck, which might mean Twitter considers keeping the current TweetDeck available for some time.

There is no information on when Twitter plans to launch a new TweetDeck. Also, the company refused to comment on the findings and speculation about moving TweetDeck into the Twitter Blue subscription. If you are a Twitter user and want to elevate your experience, try TweetDeck here while it is still free.
