Evolve arrives on Steam as free-to-play with 'Stage 2' update

It"s been a little over a year since the release of Evolve and while it was all the rage when it first debuted, gamers have somewhat forgotten about the four-versus-one shooter. Developer Turtle Rock Studios is aiming to reintroduce the game in a big way, offering Evolve as a free-to-play title.

Evolve: Stage 2 is currently available in beta form on Steam. Turtle Rock Studios hasn"t simply just slapped a new title on the game due to its new free-to-play model, but has also improved and added to the game. Since the game can be played for free, players will now earn "Silver Keys" that can be used to unlock content, meaning you"ll be able to play to earn new skills, skins, characters and more.

In order to keep things fresh, the game also offers a new progression system, new UI and will even reward those that initially paid for the game with a "Founder" status. Founders will have access to all their previous content, but will also be rewarded with new characters, skins, perks and also Silver Keys.

Lastly, Turtle Rock Studios has also made improvements by reducing the download size of the game by half, improving performance, and has shortened the time for matches.

Evolve: Stage 2 can now be downloaded for free on Steam.
