Finding a job that is rewarding is a long path for some people, but hunting for a job might just have become more sociable. A Facebook initiative has brought the job hunt to the News Feed, through the Social Jobs Partnership. The scheme seems to be restricted to the United States, but the entities collaborating have quite a bit of weight behind them.
The Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the Direct Employers Association and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies have all come together with Facebook to make this happen. That makes Facebook the world"s largest job-hunting board from one single agreement.
Described as a "job aggregator", the concept certainly seems alright. Job hunting is already a social experience, in that you talk to plenty of people to get opinions and ideas. In some ways this does seem like a natural evolution and simplification of hunting down an elusive workplace.
LinkedIn might be feeling the heat from this, with a larger social network bringing similar ideas to the table and implementing them differently. Sharing, one of Facebook"s staples, will also become a part of the initiative. We can only hope it isn"t Mafia Wars style sharing.
