Facebook status updates and wall postings were broken for nearly two hours on the world"s most used social network, providing errors messages to users who attempted to post updates or interact with others.
The incident, which began at about 7:30 a.m. Central Time, impacted users across the world, according to postings on Twitter. About an hour after the problems began, the hashtag #facebookdown began trending on Twitter.
Facebook has long been the standard of social network reliability, rarely going offline or facing errors. The last major outage for the social network occured on Sept. 23, 2010, when Facebook was down for more than two hours for some users.
