Facebook updates Messenger to allow for higher quality images

Whether it happens through text, social media or chat apps, sharing images and videos is a way of life now. Facebook is probably one of the largest platforms when it comes to sharing and many also use its popular Messenger app. But the service has restricted how images were shared and now it is improving that.

The firm stated that it would be increasing the size of images shared through its Messenger app by upping the resolution count to 4,096 x 4,096 pixels per image. The new 4K resolution will not change how photos are sent through the app, with things working like normal. While the difference in image quality might not be noticeable at first glance diving into the details, it is easy to tell where the increased resolution makes a difference. An example of this can be seen in the image up top, where both photos look similar but zooming in, you can see the sharpness and detail.

In order to take advantage of this, you"ll first need to update your app. Once that is completed, you are good to go. The update will be available to those in United States, Canada, France, Australia, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea on both iOS and Android. A broader rollout is planned in the coming weeks. This new feature is probably unrelated to Facebook analyzing the nude pics you might send in, but it"ll probably help.
