Facebook has made available its Messenger (Beta) app for Windows 10 Mobile. The news comes over a month after the firm released its Facebook and Messenger apps for PCs.
Sadly, the app isn"t available in all regions. In fact, the Store listing clearly states that the app is for a limited amount of testers.
Luckily, there"s a workaround. It would appear that phones with their regions set to the US won"t be able to obtain the app from the Store, but if you change it to France or Germany, you"re good to go. Once you obtain the app, you can change your region back.
What"s even better is that once you obtain the app, you"ll be able to download it from the My Library section of the Store, regardless of your region. It"s also worth noting that you don"t need to be an Insider to get it. In fact, the Store listing says that you need build 10240 of Windows 10 for PCs and an ARM architecture (yes, that makes no sense, but that"s what it says and it"s clearly for Windows 10 Mobile).
Like the other apps that Facebook has released for Windows 10, this is also an iOS port using the firm"s Osmeta tools. Once you sign into the app, you"ll get a notification that looks like it came straight out of an iPhone.
While you might have to jump through a few hoops to get it, the app has been long-awaited by many and it"s good to see Facebook taking the time on the Windows 10 Mobile versions of its apps. Don"t be surprised to see the Mobile version of the Facebook app show up soon.
You can grab Messenger (Beta) from the Windows Store right here.
