When reading the myriad of reviews on Apple’s new tablet you would think that the device was perfect without a single flaw. While many people have no issues with their iPad 2, based on messages posted on Apple’s forums, there appear to be a couple of problems with the FaceTime application. Some people are seeing an image from a previous chat and the application doesn"t respond. In some cases the application locks up the entire device, while others are having problems logging into FaceTime with their Apple ID on their iPad 2.
There have been many users reporting that their Apple ID does not allow them to use the FaceTime application. Although access to the network appears to work fine and they are able to login to other applications with their credentials, FaceTime refuses to authenticate. Nobody seems to have found a workaround for this issue yet and the problem is probably with FaceTime itself.
For those users who have been able to use FaceTime, many have experienced issues requiring a reboot of the device. A few suggestions to rectify the situation are to reboot the tablet by pressing the home and the lock screen buttons, restoring from a previous backup, or in extreme measures restore to factory defaults. Issues with new technology are not uncommon but after watching the “Mac vs. PC” commercials in recent years, having an Apple product where the solution is to “reboot” is good for a chuckle.
So far there has been no official word from Apple on this issue, but we expect the problems should be addressed soon.
