The latest project coming from the makers of Sanctum and Goat Simulator, Satisfactory, is entering early access later this month exclusively via the Epic Games Store. The title was originally unveiled during the 2018 E3 PC Gaming Show, where it managed to pique the interest of gamers who are into base building and automation.
Today, Coffee Stain Studios announced that the game will be entering its early access phase on March 19, with it intending to keep that tag on for at least another year as development continues while taking feedback from the community.
The game is described by the developer as "an FPS open-world factory building sim," where engineers (players) are tasked with building a massive machine for a "mysterious purpose," with multi-story factories, conveyor belts, and other fancy tools to play with.
As for what sort of content will be available at the early access launch of this 3D Factorio-esque title, here"s what the studio revealed:
- 6 tiers full of milestones that unlocks machines, resources, equipment and vehicles
- 3 different starting areas/biomes on a large handcrafted world (30km2)
- Vehicles with automation capabilities
- Equipment and weapons
- Alien creatures
- Multiplayer (still in a bit funky state but it’s Playable and Fun™)
And during early access, the studio plans to implement these features in the lead up to the 1.0 release:
- The rest of the FICSIT milestones and tiers
- More machines, resources, vehicles, equipment and weapons
- Improvements on core gameplay, systems, UI/UX, Quality of Life
- Iterate on world, exploration, landmarks, rewards and creatures
- Full narrative
- More optimization
- Dedicated server support
- Mod support
Satisfactory is now pre-purchasable via the Epic Games Store for $29.95. Coffee Stain said, however, that it expects this price to go up once the game launches out of early access.
