A few weeks ago, we reported that high end PC maker Falcon Northwest had launched a new desktop PC design, the very small Tiki tower model. Today, we received a version of the Falcon Northwest Tiki desktop for a review (keep an eye out for that review in the very near future).
While we looked through the very extensive system information packet included with the Tiki PC, we noticed something very cool. Falcon Northwest is offering people who buy a current desktop and notebook PC with Windows 7 from the company a way to get a free upgrade for that PC to Windows 8 ... sort of.
You will still have to pay the $14.99 fee to update your newly bought Falcon Northwest PC from Windows 7 to Windows 8, as per Microsoft"s deal which it announced in late May. However, new Falcon Northwest PC owners can then email a copy of the Windows 8 upgrade receipt, along with their original Falcon Northwest PC order, to the company. After that is sent out, Falcon Northwest will then sent the PC owner $14.99 back, effectively erasing Microsoft"s Windows 8 upgrade charge.
This offer is just for new purchases of Falcon Northwest PCs from now until January 31, 2013. People who own older PCs from the company will still have to pay the $39.99 fee that Microsoft has set up to update their Windows XP, Vista and 7 PCs to Windows 8 before January 31, 2013.
