Downloading movies is a big deal among those who pirate content on the Internet and 2011 was no exception. TorrentFreak.com reports that the action-driving movie sequel Fast Five was the most pirated movie on the Internet in the past year. The story claims to use number of sources to create its list, including information from thousands of BitTorrent users.
The list claims that Fast Five was downloaded 9,260,000 times in 2011, which is well below Avatar, which had 16 million pirated downloads when it was the number one downloaded movie in 2010. The Hangover Part II was second on the list followed by the Marvel Comics super hero flick Thor at number three.
A number of movies which didn"t do well at the box office showed up on the list, including the sci-fi movie Source Code at number four, the teen alien flick I Am Number Four in the number five position and the fantasy action film Sucker Punch at number six. Major box office hits like Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides didn"t break the top 10 list of pirated movies.
