It seems that Mark Zuckerberg putting a piece of tape over his laptop webcam to prevent any prying eyes to spy on him isn"t such a bad idea after all, at least according to FBI Director James Comey.
Earlier today at the Center for Strategic and International Studies conference, Comey was asked if he still has a piece of tape over his cameras at home. “Heck yeah, heck yeah,” he answered. “I hope people lock their cars, lock your doors at night. I have an alarm system. If you have an alarm system you should use it, I use mine. It’s not crazy that the FBI Director cares about personal security as well."
Back in April, Comey admitted to the audience at the Kenyon College during a Q&A session that he uses tape to cover up his cameras. He was criticized for it, however, as the FBI themselves demand that software companies engineer devices so they can gain access to computers.
He explains that it is common practice in the FBI, as well as government offices to put tape on their cameras, so people who do not have any authority to spy can"t see them.
"There’s some sensible things you should be doing, and that’s one of them," he stated.
