Federal Judge issues injunction on California Video Game Law

Late last night a Federal Judge issued a decision on the VSDA v. Schwarzenegger lawsuit, stating that the California Video Game Law that was passed several months ago and was about to go into effect was likely unconstitutional. The law which was scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1st 2006 would have restricted the sale or rental of any "violent" video games to a minor if the depictions of violence in the games was offensive to the community or if the violence depicted was in an especially "heinous, cruel or depraved" manner. The VSDA argued that the law was to vague and that it only amounted to censorship. They argued it was a violation of the First Amendment.
