The Fedora Project has released the beta images for the upcoming Fedora 27 release. It features the latest stable version of the GNOME desktop, version 3.26 and the latest and greatest of LibreOffice with version 5.4. The Fedora Project has got a few issues, though, because it hasn’t been able to ship the Server release or 32-bit versions of Fedora 27 beta.
In an email from the Fedora Project, it said:
“Fedora 27 Beta Server is intentionally delayed while we incorporate additional modularity changes, and is planned for release in approximately a month … Also be aware that we are missing i686 (32-bit Intel architecture) images for this release; this is due to a bug in image checksum creation and which we will fix it by the final release. If you are interested in testing Fedora 27 Beta on i686, wait for upcoming nightly image – or update from Fedora 26.”
Fedora Atomic 27 now provides a more simple container storage setup by default with Fedora 27; it also offers containerized Kubernetes, flannel, and etcd.
The email announcing the release also made a point to mention that Fedora 27 beta is simultaneously being released for 64-bit ARM (AArch64) and Power (both little and big endian) architectures.
The Fedora Project is hoping to release Fedora 27 in November, but don"t hold your breath. While release cycles have stuck to targets more often in recent history, the Project has been known to wildly miss its targets in the past.
