The Firaxis reboot of the XCOM series happened six years ago with the release of Enemy Unknown, bringing the classic series over to modern platforms, winning over critics and fans alike. To celebrate the anniversary, the studio has now announced a brand new DLC pack heading to XCOM 2: War of the Chosen owners, the Tactical Legacy Pack.
The centerpiece of this DLC is the new missions that all take place between what transpired in Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2. Bradford and other familiar XCOM operators will show up in these new story missions, showing off how the resistance came to be before we meet it in XCOM 2. 28 new maps will be featured in these missions, and some of them are remastered environments that will be familiar to those who"ve played previous games in the series.
There is also a new skirmish mode that will let players build their own custom missions to take part in, where they may modify the "map, squad loadouts, objective, enemies, " and other aspects using the included editor.
To those wanting a new set of tunes to listen to while taking down the alien overloads, Firaxis is also including the Enemy Unknown soundtrack as well as a brand new score that is inspired by the soundtrack of X-Com: UFO Defense, the original 1994 game that started it all. Moreover, new soldier customization options, weapons, armor, as well as a way to play previous War of the Chosen challenges will also be included in the DLC.
The Tactical Legacy Pack DLC has an October 9 release date attached to it and will only arrive to the game"s PC version. And as for a price point, there is none for now, since Firaxis will be giving the DLC for free to all XCOM 2: War of the Chosen owners. This free promotion does have an end date, so base game plus expansion owners will need to be quick, with the DLC going on to cost $7.99 starting December 3.
