Ubisoft first announced its plans for Assassin"s Creed III a couple of months ago, complete with a trailer that used pre-rendered footage. Today the publisher released the first Assassin"s Creed III gameplay trailer, showing off how the next game in the popular stealth action game series runs on its new graphics engine.
The trailer shows off the moves of the new lead character, the half-English, half-Mohawk Connor Kenway, as he battles the British Redcoats in the US during the time period of the American Revolution. Oh, and apparently he has to fight a rather big and nasty bear as well.
The game uses Ubisoft"s new in-house AnvilNext engine, which will not only allow for improved visual compared to previous games in the series but will also allow for more characters to be on screen at once. Ubisoft has already announced that Kenway will meet up with real historical figures from that time period including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and others.
Assassin"s Creed III is currently set for an October 30th release in the US, with an October 31st launch in the UK and other parts of Europe. In addition to the expected PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will be released for Nintendo"s upcoming Wii U console.
