First Look at Wildspire Waste in the upcoming Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter: World was announced at this year"s E3 by Capcom, and is an open-world action role-playing game. You take on a role as a Hunter sent out to track down and capture - or kill - the monsters that roam the world, so these creatures can be studied. Unlike previous games in the series, the traversable world will be divided into separate numbered maps, isolating them from each other.

Today, Capcom revealed one of these sections called Wildspire Waste; a dangerous mix between desert and swampland, where you will find several predators lurking about.

In the trailer above, you are introduced to a magnificent bird-like creature called the Kulu-Ya-Ku - a monster that steals the eggs of other creatures in both the Wildspire Waste and another area called the Ancient Forest, which was revealed last month. A creature that can be found in previous games called the Barroth returns to the franchise as well; this fan favorite marks its territory with mud looking for its favorite snack, ants. However, don"t let its choice in food deceive you, as it will charge at anyone or anything that enters its territory.

You can see some of these awesome creatures, screenshots of the world, and more in the gallery below.

According to the press release sent to Neowin, the game will be playable at the Sony booth in Hall 7 during gamescom, which begins on August 22 in Cologne. Monster Hunter: World is scheduled to launch in 2018 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The developer did note that a PC version will launch at a later date.
