First Windows 8 government app appears in Windows Store

There"s been an increase of Windows 8 apps appearing in Microsoft"s Windows Store since the launch of Windows 8 RTM. Up until now, none of the Windows 8 apps have been made for the store"s "government" category.

That has now changed as the first government Windows 8 app is available to download from the Windows Store. The app itself will appeal to a very limited number of Windows 8 users. It"s made specifically for the Bay County, Florida tax office.

The app is designed to let users search for property and real estate taxes in the Bay County, Florida area. Again, unless you are looking for some beach front property in Panama City, this isn"t for you. The app itself was made by a company called VisualGov Solutions, which has made software for other government organizations.

This will likely be the first of many apps for Windows 8 made specifically for accessing local, state, and US government information. If Windows 8 takes off as Microsoft expects, you can assume that governments around the world will begin to make "Modern" UI apps for Windows 8 to access government information, pay bills, and more.
