If you have an iPhone or iPad, you may be familiar with Flipboard, the popular news reader app for iOS devices. Today, Flipboard finally makes its Android debut on the Google Play store. In addition, Flipboard will be pre-installed on some versions of the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone.
The app"s notes state that Flipboard for Android has been optimized for smartphones but not yet for tablets. However, in a new company blog post, Flipboard said versions of the app are also available for Amazon"s Kindle Fire and Barnes and Noble"s Nook tablets.
The launch of the new Android Flipboard app isn"t the only new addition. The blog post states that there is added support for both Google+ and YouTube. It states:
Now you can connect your Google+ account to Flipboard and see all the activity in your Circles in a beautiful magazine format. You can “+1” (Google’s version of “like”) any post from within Flipboard, or tap the status update to share, comment and reply. The YouTube experience is similarly transformed, as video browsing becomes more like reading a magazine. Flip through your subscriptions, uploads and favorites, or enjoy popular feeds like Most Viewed, Trending Videos and Top Favorites.
Finally, new editions of Flipboard for Germany, Italy, Korea, the Netherlands and Spain are now available to download as well, with content recommendations from those countries" own editors.
