Window blinds aren"t very exciting, but they are probably something that many of us interact with every day. Many of us may find ourselves walking around our homes twisting and opening them and some of us have already given up doing that. Jalousier is taking a shot at automating window blinds with FlipFlic, a module designed to automate the most common window blinds (both horizontal and vertical).
The idea is to pair a mechanism for opening the blinds with light and temperature sensors while powering it with a solar panel (USB charging is an option too). Within the app you can schedule and set specific criteria for it to follow, so that it can operate independently or allow users the ability to control and adjust multiple FlipFlics with relatively (and timely) ease.
The Flipflic could prove to be exceptionally useful for hard to reach blinds and thanks to the automation features, your home can look occupied even if you are away. Additionally, it will offer integration with some BLE and ZigBee home automation hubs, but specifics haven"t been announced yet regarding support.
The company, based in Estonia, just launched its Kickstarter campaign and is currently offering modules for $60 each.
